On the eve of the recent Panaji Assembly Constituency by poll the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had assured a delegation of Goan Catholic Welfare Union (GCWU) that once he returns to Delhi he would take up with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh the issue of attacks on the minorities. It is almost a month and we have since not heard a word from Manohar Parrikar on the issue.
Now comes yet another vicious offensive by RSS Supremo Mohan Bhagwat on Mother Teresa. Manohar Parrikar’s stoic silence on the issue is deafening. Does he have the spine to condemn these continued unwarranted and highly divisive statements by the RSS? The RSS and VHP may be faking to be social organizations but are very much communal political outfits of the BJP. Incidentally Mohan Bhagwat was given a rousing welcome by the BJP during his visit to Goa in December with former MLA Damu Naik being his minister-in waiting. It is no secret that this government is geared, controlled, and manipulated by the RSS and VHP. Narendra Modi, Manohar Parrikar and the entire top brass of the BJP are deeply entrenched in that divisive ideology. They may auction their suits but will never part away with those khaki shorts. Like the dog’s tail they will never straighten. India needs to awaken and ensure that it remains a secular and democratic country free from such bigots.
