Michael Tony Ferns and his wife Annie Gerards Ferns who have been booked by
the Margao Police under sections 420, 423, 417, 418,468 read with sections
34 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code have moved for anticipatory bail. The
Margao Sessions Court will hear the applications on March 26th.



Michael Tony Ferns is the founder Chairman of the Margao based NGOs Goa
Citizens Welfare Trust and Dadleancho Ekvott.



Also booked in the case is Michael Fern’s brother Jeffery Sydney Ferns who
is based in Scotland with the police having to seek the assistance of the
Interpol to ensure his presence in Goa.



The trio have been booked for offences of cheating, fraud and forgery
against for having allegedly duped a lady NRI from Navelim to the tune of
seven lakhs.



In her complaint to the Margao Police the NRI from Navelim Mrs.  Perpetuo
Fernandes has alleged that Michael Tony Ferns, Annie Gerards Ferns and
Jeffery Sydney Ferns had deceived her by fraudulently and dishonestly
inducing her to part with seven lakhs as part payment for a plot at Nagao
near Verna.



The complainant has alleged that the accused had falsely and fraudulently
misrepresented to her that the 600 sq mt plot in Survey No 13/4 at Nagoa
that was being sold to her for thirty six lakhs was a developed plot though
infact it was orchard land.



The complainant has further given the police documentary evidence that she
paid an amount of seven lakhs to Michael Tony Ferns which includes the one
lakh that she transferred on 20th June last year to the Bank of Scotland
account of Jeffery Sydney Ferns.
