Judicial conference on GOOD Friday It is a public holiday and of very deep religious significance to the Christian minority. May be that the honourable law officers are not aware of the depth and feelings of the community. Besides never in the history of India, such a conference is fixed on Good Friday. It does not matter that a few people will be affected and this negligible number that can be overlooked or ignored. Would such a conference be held on Diwali day, Ganesh Chaturthi or Eid or any other religious festival? Why could it not be held during summer vacations without affecting, disrupting working of the Courts if that is the rationale?. A lady lawyer of S.C. made a fervent appeal to defer the dates because of apprehensions of Christians sentiments, but the retort to file a petition appears both legalistic and legal arrogance.
The directive of Central Govt to Institutions to observe Good governance day on Christmas day , a public holiday ,on the Birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpaye, Ex P.M., though later explained as voluntary is not lost on anyone, The systematic attack , vandalizing on Churches especially in Delhi and other places is alarming and creating fear psychosis and insecurity. The culprits are yet to be brought to bock, but the explanation that they are some hood looms; drunkards etc, Further that attacks on temples are far more in numbers is no justification or consolation The dastardly rape against a nun in Bengal is aggravating a sense of deep concern. In spite of assurances of P.M the attack and destruction of Church under construction in M.P is still waiting for justice .Many religious symbols of the community are randomly, but systematically targeted .The minorities for the first time after Independence are being tickled , provoked, intimidated deliberately. The obnoxious remarks of RSS ideologue against the saintly Mother Theresa maligning her selfless social services are unprecedented and uncharitable The observations of Julius Rebeiro in this regard are relevant and have received wide coverage.
