In this Mickky Pacheco ongoing saga, Goa Police have clearly abdicated their bounden duty to uphold the law. “Help Goa Police To Help You” is their avowed slogan but it looks like this communication is for law breakers and in this case specifically to the absconding Mickky Pacheco.
They failed to arrest the former Minister after the Supreme Court verdict, neither did they initiate any move to seek his warrant of arrest. Once the Court acted cops are sent to Delhi on a slow train while to nab Tarun Tejpal they had swiftly air dashed back and forth. Superficial moves by the police including the so called look out notice is a cosmetic exercise to shield them if their inaction is questioned by the Courts. The credibility of the police is not tested in rounding up poor beggars from the streets but in a case like this if they had displayed the spine in not succumbing to political pressure. In lighter vein a police officer remarked that the cops are not trained to catch a mouse, but in the case at hand they were dealing with a bandicoot. In playing this cat and mouse the Goa Police have not lived to the expectations and hopes of their Director General T.N.Mohan. Far from their mission statement that “Goa police resolves to give people efficient, law abiding and responsive law enforcement machinery” they have proved to be a shamed force of caged parrots.
