The concert is dedicated to St Joseph Vaz at which 146 persons, ranging from
school students to retired priests, would perform. The choir will perform
pieces of acclaimed musicians like Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart, besides
compositions of local artists like Romeo Monteiro and Vinela Gomes. As a
tribute to St Joseph Vaz, an original Singhalese composition by Fr Jacome
Gonsalves, titled ‘Thri Eka Sura Jesune’ will be performed.
Tenor soloist and professor at Chowgule College, Sachin Moraes, stated, “The
concert fills the distance between God and human beings as the inner soul
connects to the divine, giving oneself a sense of peace. The participation of
people of all faiths in the concert evokes the religious harmony that always
prevailed in Goa.”
The Santa Cecelia Choir is one of Goa’s oldest and has produced music that has
been lauded by the world. Fr Simon D’Cunha will serve as the choir’s conductor,
while Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Filipe Neri Ferrão, will preside over the
event.
