Dear friends,
The BCS Executive Committee invites you to attend the first Fr Salvador
Rodrigues Memorial Lecture & Award Function that will be held on Sunday 26
April 2015 at 11 am at Don
Bosco International School, Matunga.

The Lecture on Participative Governance will be delivered by Fr Mario
Mendes, Director of the Centre for Social Action.

The Award consisting
of a Citation, Trophy and Prize Money will be presented by His Eminence
Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay.

After going through a process of scrutinizing the nominations received the jury
decided that the first Fr. Salvador Rodrigues Memorial
Award should be presented to Mr. Gene D'Silva a Mazgaon resident and Founder of
NGO Jeevan Dhara that has contributed significantly
in social welfare work. You can see details of his work on the website
http://www.jeevandharaonline.in/

Most of us have a very high regard for late Fr. Salvador Rodrigues (1948 –
2013) who has touched our lives and contributed so much to the Parishes and
Organisations he has been associated with.

The Bombay Catholic Sabha cherishes his memory as he was associated with the
organization as its Ecclesiastical Advisor for eighteen long years. During his
association with us we realized how much Fr. Salu (as he was popularly known)
cherished the values of Equality, Human Rights and Social Justice.

A corpus called Fr.
Salvador Rodrigues Memorial Fund has been created and the interest
accrued on it will be given annually as Award to a person who has
significantly contributed to social work. We thank all the donors who
have contributed to establish this Fund and we hope that through this program
we can keep the memory of late Fr. Salvador Rodrigues alive and the values he
cherished for generations to come.

We look forward to seeing you at the event.
