Dear Members and Friends of Goa Chitra,
Goa Chitra opens its doors to all kids this
summer for an exclusive learning experience. As part of the Goa Chitra Kids’
Club, the museum will organize an special summer camp called “Kids’ @ Goa 
Chitra Museum” for
children between age of 7 to 16 years, where children will get an opportunity
to explore through fun and play the Museum, interact with cultural artefacts
and age old traditions, crafts and life skills.

 

Starting from the 4th of May 2015, every day for four weeks, from Monday to 
Friday,
children will get an opportunity to explore and learn something new about their
heritage and culture. Through interactive exercises, children will get educated
about new traditional skills with workshops, hands on experience and
demonstrations. Children will also get to go on heritage trails and travel to
various parts of Goa.

 

Every week 
Certificate Courses by Reputed Professionals are designed so that
children are able to explore their artistic potentials and work with
traditional craftsmen and contemporary artists and be a part of the evolving
arts and crafts of Goa.

 

The course is designed with traditional and
contemporary techniques so that the child is able to understand the material
culture of their heritage In Arts, Clay and Mosaic, Textile and Weaving. The
course will help the child to think creatively, become a young entrepreneur and
learn the basic skills involved in creating fun and exciting designs which they
can take home. 

 

All batches are customized with
personalized attention and each batch size will include not more than 15 kids. 
Class size is limited to
keep instructor to student ratios low.

 

“Kids’
@ Goa Chitra Museum”  is specially conceptualized by the curator
Mr. Victor Hugo Gomes as an attempt of preserving the past so that their
children take pride in their ancestry and feel rooted. The camp is designed
keeping in mind their developmental stage and includes experience based,
hands-on activities which besides being fun also helps children to think
independently, develop good communication skills, team spirit and understand
various concepts taught in school but through live experiences and expert
interactions. 

 

The summer camp is organized in association
with Kala Clan and Bookworm.

Starting for the first time this summer vacations, the camp has a choice of 5 
different workshops and scheduled as follows:
a) Clay/Pottery Workshop:
4th May to 9th May 2015- 
9.30am-12.30pm. (7yrs to 16 yrs) (Max 15 kids)
Includes Coil process, slab process; mask making, toys, expert live wheel 
thrown pottery demonstration. The Camp includes thematic story telling, guided 
tours of relevant sections of the museum and an exclusive field trip to potters 
village.
b) Mosaic Workshop: 
4th May to 9th May 2015- 
3.00am-6.00pm. (7yrs to 16 yrs) (Max 15 kids)
Mosaic workshop includes introduction, design creation, tile breaking and 
sticking, grouting and cleaning. The Camp includes thematic story telling, 
guided tours of relevant sections of the museum and an exclusive field trip to 
see traditional mosaic floorings etc.
c) Art Workshop:
11th May to 16th May 2015-
9.30am-12.30pm. (7yrs to 11 yrs) (Max 15 kids)
3.00pm-06.00pm (12yrs to 16yrs) (Max 15 kids)
Includes Sketching, Free expression, Story book reading/making/exploring, 
Nature Study, Paper Batik, Etching, expert live demonstrations. Camp includes 
thematic story telling, guided tours of relevant sections of the museum & an 
exclusive field trip to a heritage site.
d) Textile and Weaving Workshop:
18th May to 23rd May 2015 
9.30am-12.30pm. (7yrs to 11 yrs) (Max 15 kids)
3.00pm-06.00pm (12yrs to 16yrs) (Max 15 kids)
Includes tie and dye with natural colours, Block printing with vegetable & 
wooden blocks, cloth, cane and palm leaf weaving introduction and live 
demonstrations. Camp includes thematic story telling, guided tours of relevant 
sections of the museum & an exclusive field trip to the traditional cane 
weavers.
e) Paper and Jute/Coir Craft Workshop:
25th May to 30th May 2015 
9.30am-12.30pm. (7yrs to 11 yrs) (Max 15 kids)
3.00pm-06.00pm (12yrs to 16yrs) (Max 15 kids)
Includes making paper strips and creating shapes, making Jute bowls and plates, 
painting or varnishing. Camp includes thematic story telling, guided tours of 
relevant sections of the museum & an exclusive field trip to the coir craft
