Many an eyebrow raised over the ‘green channel’ through which Salman Khan
walked out just hours after his conviction in the infamous hit and run
case. May this judicial precedent come to the rescue of every other
convict, be it the poorest of the poor. Why did the law not take its own
course and Salman Khan swiftly moved to Jail after his conviction? He was
instead allowed to sit in Court and await the arrival of the interim bail
order. In how many other cases have Courts worked overtime and moved with
such promptness?

The outrageous and cynical claim by Salman’s sycophants that sleeping on
the footpath is an offence is totally condemnable. The message to the
people of India is now loud and clear that it is possible to mock the Law
of the land, provided you are Salman Khan or, better still, Goa’s former
Minister Mickky Pacheco who has been untraceable for the last one month,
evading arrest as he has to undergo a six month jail sentence for slapping
an Electricity department Engineer.

Last month the retired Judge of the Bombay High Court Suresh Hosbet had at
a public function in Goa stated that the Judiciary in our country had
collapsed. So is it Achhe din for the Salmans and Mickkys of India?
