PRESS NOTE CPI(M) DEMANDS IMMEDIATE STOP TO LAND GRAB AT TEREKHOL The Goa unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded that the Goa Government should immediately step in and arrest all the officials of M/s Leading Hotels Pvt Ltd., the American hotel chain Four Seasons, and their local conspirators who have highhandedly violated the law by cutting trees and vegetation in fertile agricultural lands to lay out an illegal approach road to their equally illegal golf course at Terekhol, Pernem. The illegalities are all the more glaring because they are being committed in agricultural tenancy lands which are protected from any type of Conversion under the law. The illegalities are all the more glaring because they are being committed in BJP Chief Minister Mr. Laxmikant Parsekar's home taluka of Pernem, and in his very own assembly constituency of Mandrem. The illegalities are all the more glaring because the National Green Tribunal had issued an Order of Status Quo in the matter. The inaction of the BJP Government in Goa, shows their utter contempt towards Courts of Law, the Law itself and to the Constitution of India. The deafening silence of Chief Minister Mr. Laxmikant Parsekar is in line with the nefarious Land Grab Ordinance which is being illegally promulgated and re-promulgated by the BJP Government at the Centre, under which fertile agricultural lands of the peasants are sought to be illegally confiscated and handed over to the Big Corporates in the name of "Development". The fact that about 50 musclemen were illegally brought in by the private company from the neighbouring State of Maharashtra, to carry out their overnight illegal operations in the intervening night between 14th and 15th May, 2015, speaks volumes about the type of law and order in that state which is also ruled by the BJP. The fact that till date the Pernem police have failed to even register a credible FIR, shows the total complicity of Chief Minister Parsekar who also holds the Home portfolio. The fact that the project pertains to a leading American hotel chain, shows the abject surrender of our national interests by the self-proclaimed patriots in the BJP. The CPI-M has appealed to all democratic minded citizens of Goa to join in the massive Protest Demonstration tomorrow Monday 18-05-2015 at 11.00 am outside the Goa Vidhan Sabha gates, at Porvorim, Goa, to protest the goondagiri and violation of all laws at Terekhol, by M/s Leading Hotels Pvt Ltd. and their American masters. sd/- (Thalmann P.
