TOTAL REVAMPING IN POLICE FORCE DESIRED It should be obvious by now that nothing is going to change unless the police force is completely reoriented as a police service! This cannot happen unless there is a political will to bring a Police Bill in line with the Supreme Court guidelines, after consulting all the stake holders, quickly resulting into a Police Act and rules that will be strictly implemented. There will never be a political will unless the people can exert due pressure!To have well trained modern policing requires firstly a complete purge and revamping of the present incumbents! The politician-police-criminal nexus is somehow entrenched.The bad eggs must be thrown out and golden handshake given to those not competent or can be effective or useful in this new service. Right from training to separation of general policing,crime and cyber investigation, traffic and later its own commando force must be the upgrade for future policing. Modern forensic and effective technology with a physically and mentally fit force that can gain the confidence and trust of the people (including protecting women and children) at all times of day or night is what India requires more than anything else!
