With absconding convict Mickky Pacheco still hiding while making a mockery of the law and the police, the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar needs to explain on what basis he had on May 11th confidently claimed that Mickky Pacheco would surrender in a day or two.
It is very evident that with the blessings of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar their friend Mickky Pacheco has been on the run and hiding for two long months. While Mickky Pacheco is back from Delhi and now hiding in Goa, a four member Goa police team is still in Delhi squandering tax payer’s money on that farcical search. Mickky Pacheco has been changing his hide outs in Goa. This week he was spotted at Joecons Beach Resort at Benaulim located just next to Taj Exotica. As Mickky Pacheco is dreading stepping into Sada Jail, a source close to him has revealed that the Goa Government has given him the option of delaying his surrender so that he could enjoy some comfort at the newly constructed state of the art Colvale jail which is being inaugurated tomorrow the 30th of May. One of the three special isolated cells at the Colvale jail is reportedly being readied to accommodate the flamboyant and high profile politician Mickky Pacheco who has to undergo a six month jail sentence. As per the jail rules every convict has to consume only jail food and wear the jail uniform of a blue shorts and white top while in the jail and wherever the convict is taken whether to hospital or elsewhere. Moves are reportedly underway to make a special provision to enable Mickky Pacheco have home food and also use his own personal clothes to avoid him the embarrassment of having to attend the July monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly in jail uniform. Colvale Jail will be under CCTV surveillance. Once Mickky Pacheco surrenders the authorities are duty bound to ensure that he is treated like any other convict strictly in accordance with law and with no preferential treatment whatsoever. The beleaguered Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco who until 3rd April was Rural Development Minister in Goa’s BJP led government is now absconding as he has to undergo a six month jail sentence imposed by the Bombay High Court at Goa on July 17th last year for having in 2006 assaulted a Electricity department Junior Engineer Kapil Natekar. The Supreme Court on March 30th upheld the High Court order while dismissing the Special Leave Petition filed by Mickky Pacheco. The Supreme Court on 11th May also dismissed his plea for further time to surrender.
