A Division Bench of the Bombay High Court at Goa comprising of Justice F.M
Reis and Justice K.L Wadane today evening rejected the petition filed by
Goa State BJP Vice –President Anil Hoble challenging the order of the
National Green Tribunal (NGT) which had ordered demolishing of his illegal
structures and fined him Rs 20 lakhs for destroying mangroves and doing
illegal land filling in violation of environment laws along the
Ribandar-Panaji causeway.

BJP leader Anil Hoble misused his political power with impunity in usurping
community land by filling the fields and destroying mangroves around the
Ribandar – Merces area.

The NGT in its order had accused Anil Hoble of doing land filling after
cutting mangroves and filling salt pans in violation of CRZ regulations
while also misleading the authorities.

The illegal structures built by Anil Hoble for commercial activity along
the very busy Ribandar – Panaji causeway is a very accident prone area
with hundreds of fatal accidents on that road over the years with even Anil
Hoble's own brother killed there in a road accident.

With the High Court today rejecting Anil Hoble’s petition, the decks have
now cleared for the bull dozers to move in and demolish Hoble’s River
Lounge Bar & Restaurant and his other the structures which have to be
cleared within six weeks as per the order passed by the NGT on 29th May.
