This month's Goanet operations sponsored by an Anonymous Donor ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "King Fisher breweries had installed a beer fountain in front of multiplex Inox Theater during celebration of IFFI 2004. Goans did raise strong protest against the beer fountain. To add to the feelings succeeding government started issuing no objection to organize wine festival every year in front of Inox. Last year government even announced retail selling license for beers from any shops at a prescribed fees!! Taking advantage of this license and much to the annoyance of general public King Fisher breweries recently opened a beer bar inside Inox Theater - first of its kind in whole of India. So from now on you can enjoy movie in Goa with a beer glass in hand" Reacting to this, Congress loyalist said "This is all because of BJP. In the first place, they should have never allowed King Fisher to set up a beer fountain during opening ceremony of IFFI 2004. I consider allowing any one to construct anything for business even on temporary basis and later asking to dismantle amounts to denying the right of setting up permanent business. In this context I firmly believe that Congress is right in legalizing the license. Hence the entire blame for this mess should be shouldered by BJP alone" BJP loyalist immediately responded saying "You see BJP allowed King Fisher to set up a beer fountain only temporarily for the benefit of tourist and to add to the glamour of IFFI 2004 celebration. The very same beer fountain was dismantled on the closing day of IFFI. Today Congress party has allowed King Fisher to open a beer bar in Inox with permanent legal license. Hence the entire blame should go to congress and not on BJP" Since both these loyalists happened to be my good friends they asked me "Who is to be blamed for this mess. What's your opinion"? I said "Why don't you all write to press expressing your individual views. Let's see what general public have to say on this issue. Till then how about drinking child beer instead of water! What say?" In the interest of our posterity the issue of starting beer bar in Inox needs to be taken up seriously - for today its Inox - tomorrow we will see beer bars in every other theaters of Goa and in public places. The "King Fisher Beer Virus" needs to be controlled before it spreads it's deadly tentacles in other brands of beers! If law can ban smoking cigarette in public places why should same law allow drinking beer in public places? Your views, opinion and or feedback will help take up the issue in right direction.
