Dear Dr. Nandukumar Kamat, I am glad that you have put up all your valid points in Navhind Times dt 20.7.2015 : Beautification aimed at converting St Ines into urban canal: environmentalist , and also in Herald Review " Kill it, that's what Govt want to do to the Creek' on 19.7.2015 But since you were not present during the workshop at Goa International Centre organised by Goa State Pollution Control Board, you have cited about the concretization of Creek was discussed at the workshop which could be misunderstanding but since I was present I must tell you that this matter never came up for discussion. This is for your kind information. Also you have mentioned that NIO is silent on this work, but I must tell you NIO had no interest to remain silent as the scientists are already on the job and carrying out their research activities on job related to the rivers all over Goa including St Ines Creek. Whoever mentioned to you must have given wrong information about NIO being silent. The workshop was well organised by GSPCB and that Dr Sangeeta Sonak did her presentation quite well. Myself , Dr. Joe and Scientist Sreepada from NIO, and others communicated to MLA various points and that St. Ines is a Creek but he disagrees. The point remain that the Creek should remain as "Creek Only" and not "Nullah" as mentioned by MLA of Panjim Mr. Sidharth Kukoliekar in his Chief Guest speech. Hope it is clear to you, Regards,
