Dear Friend, [SOUL] Save Our Land Team along with Watchdog Foundation, Marve Road Residents Association were instrumental in campaigning against the Cement Plants - three in number in the residential area of Malwani, Malad West. We are happy to inform you that because of our sustained campaign, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board [MPCB] gave the orders for the closer of all the three plants. At the moment One plant is being dismantled and the other two have shut down operations. Our demand is complete dismantling of the plants. These plants have been responsible for environmental degradation besides ailments for several of the citizens including children in the vicinity of the plants. How they were allowed to set up and function in purely a residential area is another mystery. We are also upset with the Coastal Road development plans of the Government of Maharashtra which we are strongly opposing. Today is our first meeting to work on our campaign strategy.
