* SEARCHING FOR ROOTS: Shirley Gonsalves <[email protected]> has done an MPhl at the University of London (SOAS) in 2008 on the role of Goans and other Luso Indians in creating a medical community in Bombay in the 19th Century. During recent visits to Goa she got intrigued with the work done by her great-grandfather, J.B. Pinto (of Salvador-do-Mundo, Saligao and East Africa). He even wrote a book on Goan migration after returning to Goa in the 1960s. If anyone knows members of the family, pls help put Shirley in touch: JB Pinto's sisters -- Adeline Demello went to Mombassa and Caroline Guido went to Karachi (probably just before or after World War II).
