--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When The Law Minister Did Not Uphold The Law by Aires Rodrigues Tuesday - Jul 28, 2015 [image: When The Law Minister Did Not Uphold The Law by Aires Rodrigues] The cowboy style high-handed and illegal outing to Sada jail yesterday led by Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza to see their convicted colleague Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco was outrageous and needs to be condemned as it has sent a wrong message to the law abiding citizens. Nobody can have any issue with anyone visiting a convict in jail. But the VIP manner in which this entourage entered the jail yesterday has raised one eye brow too many. Firstly, Monday is not a jail visiting day with no visits to any inmate allowed. Even on a visiting day, no visits are allowed after 5 pm but this rule was also breached by the Deputy Chief Minister who also happens to be the Law Minister. When anyone visits an inmate the jailor has to be present and be witness to all the conversation. This prison rule was also breached yesterday. Rule 250 of the Goa Prisons Rules specifically prohibits any discussion on political matters by anyone visiting a convict. But over that 70 minute long interaction yesterday with the convicted Mickky Pacheco it was only politics on the menu. The visiting MLAs may be right when they say that they were moved on seeing Mickky Pacheco suffering. But a jail is a jail and every inmate in the jail suffers. That is what jails are all about. They are not a holiday resort, a pleasure home or a fun destination. And did these MLAs care to break their silence when their colleague Mickky Pacheco earlier this year went absconding for two long months with tax payers’ money squandered on looking out for him. That the politically controlled search of Mickky Pacheco was a farcical one is another issue. And did these MLAs care to share their concern over the pain and indignation suffered by Electricity department Junior Engineer Kapil Natekar who was high –handedly assaulted by Mickky Pacheco. And for that matter have they ever cared to share the agony of all those who over the years have been at the receiving end of Mickky Pacheco’s brut muscle power. Did these Honourable MLAs pose for a while to ponder that the current jail sentence their comrade Mickky Pacheco is undergoing was upheld by four courts besides our country’s highest Temple of Justice, the Supreme Court of India. To sum it all, that VIP visit yesterday to the Sada Jail by the Deputy Chief Minister and the two MLAs to visit the VIP jailed Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco was nothing but a bigheaded abuse of power and authority. The jail authorities are equally to be blamed for having abdicated in their duty in allow the VIPs to enter the jail through the Green channel in violation of the rules. The Deputy Chief Minister should now go visit all the convicts. Goa has already become a lawless State. It cannot get any worse. Amen. Back Comments (7) Trevor Thursday - Jul 30, 2015 A band of thieves that stick together. You scratch my back, I will scratch your back - The dirty filthy Indian system. People feel they have no choice but to vote for these people because they live in fear of their lives. In the West, "the government is fearful of it's people"....but in India it is the opposite, "the people are fearful of it's government"..i.e. look at current situation with the poor priest at the Velim Church. The poor priest and his protectors who were violated, now have to get down on their knees and beg the government not to be persecuted, (yes I do mean persecute and not prosecute). This is India after all. The PM's NRIs are laughing at him behind his back, when he asked them "to come back to India"......the standard joke on the internet is NRI stands for 'NON RETURNING Indian'. I am sure the PM would like all Hindus to return to his great empire but they said, "No thanks!". Instead they pen, "India is like a cesspool where only the chit is allowed to rise to the top". Case in point above! Andrade Wednesday - Jul 29, 2015 Look how hungry they appear, they thirst for money they will do any thing even sell entire Goa to India by driving away the Goans. What can any one do? Flee to Portugal. susegadho goan Wednesday - Jul 29, 2015 dear useless worthless shamless selfish good for nothing gorvan budlole bijude supporting corrupt goonda mafia thugs you goans but not all..you all deserve such leaders.. regards dukan budlolo niz goenkar.. stephen dias Wednesday - Jul 29, 2015 I was always for Francisco D'sousa to become Chief Minister of Goa. But now I realize that if he had got the CM post the whole Goa would have gone to dogs. It is better that Parsekar who talks too much but he has some senses sometimes, but not this Dy CM who visited a jailor. Now in future he should make a point to visit all the rest those who are suffering in the jail. Jail is for people to to surfer otherwise what is the purpose of jail. It is not 5-star nor any star jail. They must be given work to get fit and to forget the bad things done. May be a priest should visit every Sunday for confessions for Hindu Catholics as he said that before. Has he taken permission from his better half to visit Sada jail? Lobo is another person who says that the visit was for short time and that too for personal health purpose, and not talked politics. But what they were talking for 70 minutes in the jail? Only GOD knows. As Aires said that Law Minister has broken the Laws. Anonymous the VIII Wednesday - Jul 29, 2015 VERY TRUE ! DO GOANS IN GOA HAVE ANY SHAME THAT THEY KEEP ELECTING SUCH GOONDAS??
