The words secular and secularism came into prominence
following the barbaric demolition of the Babri Masjid
in 1992 and the inhuman crimes against the Christian
faith by the Hindutva brigade.
Today the simple meaning of secularism is not to
demolish masjids, not to attack places of worship, not
to rape nuns, not to kill Christian priests and not to
involve in hate campaigns.
After sustained atrocities against the minorities,
people have generally come to accept that any person
or organisation that does not involve in such heinous
acts is secular.
