Excellent post.
I just recently met a few Bengalis in Utica attending mass at our local "Our
Lady of Lourdes Church" in Utica, NY.
They are here on H-1-B visa deputed by one of India's multi-national IT firms.
They could not tell me how they got their religion or their surnames.
They tell me they have nothing to do with Portuguese.
Yet I found that hard to believe with their last name as "Gomes".
