URGENT PRESS STATEMENT
We demand immediate protection to Human Rights Defender Shri John Dayal by the
Delhi Police and arrest of those bigotted elements who are targetting him with
threats online.
We condemn the attempts of the bigotted elements who are trolling John Dayal
which is just another attempt to kill.
Mr. John Dayal is one of the dominant voices raising his voice against bigotry,
anti-communalist and human and minority rights defender. John has been doing
this consistently since several decades.
Mr. John Dayal besides being a member of the National Intergration Council of
India has also been the National President of the All India Catholic Union and
General Secretary of the All India Christian Council.
Dissent cannot be stifled in a Democracy which is happening more now in the new
dispensation of rule at the centre.
It is the responsibility of the Centre and the Delhi Government and Police to
provide protection to John Dayal and ensure his safety. And should be done
without any further delay.
And the perpetrators of this abuse and threats should be arrested and dealt
with law and punished.
