-----COMMENTS ON PORTFOLIOS OF ARLEKAR vs ALINA ----- Target Goa Editor made three main comments in her Editorial report;
1. Alina has no say over Goa State Pollution Control Board. 2. The construction lobby will be happy. 3. Arlekar is happy, Builders are happy, and Activists are worried. I do not think whatever Ms Bevinda Colaco, Editor of Target Goa said is all correct. First; Alina has no say in Goa State Pollution Control Board is partially correct. Second; Construction Lobby was always happy since BJP and Congress were in power. Third; Arlekar is happy , Builders are happy this is also correct. And the last statement is that Activists are worried will not make any difference because when Alina was an Environment Minister she did satisfy the BJP Government. She allowed to cut the trees at Tiracol for Leading Hotels to come up. Casinos pollution was her responsibility. Boats cruises were allowed at Miramar and Campal seaside. Children park destroyed in Campal for drinking, prostitution and environment damaged by allowing Indian tourist boarding on illegal cruise boats. Marinas was allowed only at Cortalim and not other parts of Goa. Last, the new Casino ship Lexicon of 400 seater arrival near Captain of Ports jetty will further damage the environment to the River Mandovi,. This is during her tenure as Environment Minister. Arlekar has to set right all the damages made by previous Minister of Environment. It is yet to be seen. Hope that the new assignment of Science and Technology given to her, will do good for Alina if she realizes now and that she being a good Teacher probably she may be able to manage this portfolio with the support of NIO and CSIR which comes under Science and Technology. We got to wait and see what Arlekar will do to protect Forest and Environment.
