READERS VIEWS TAKE A BREAK It is surprising that readers views/ opinions, and comments on Sundays in particular are not published by some English Goan dailies , Some other dailies have no regular space and publishing may well depend on priority, space to other news considered as more relevant, while others limit to bare minimum ,edited to shone of its real intent. Of course it is the prerogative of papers in this matter One cannot complain because of its free publicity. Why the readers views have to be eclipsed and denied space, as if it is dispensable. The news papers worlds over are devoting substantial space, as they consider it as an important daily inclusion, feedback and loyalty to the paper. Research findings support the fact that readers consider it with great importance and meaningful inputs. Goa Govt, CID department regularly cuts, paste and submit letters to editor to the relevant departments, which receive due attention for redress by the concerned authorities and which many not be known by many writers. Another popular perception is that once a news papers publishes it, the others trash it into waste paper bins thus denying views to its own loyal readers The publishing of letters free, or edited should not be considered as a favour to any contributor, but rather as enhancing the worth of the paper in question, Controversial views are rightly edited for its nuisance value and rightly so the defamatory opinions and legal consequences, The editors clearly maintain that the views expressed are those of the writers alone .In the west the editors informs the writer of date of publications and express thanks. In case of reasons for any unpolished letter for lack of place, length, nature of content, a note politely request the writer not discontinue in disappointment. Some dailies even post a free copy of the day
