Goencho Saib St Francis Xavier The feast of this univwersal saint and patron of Goa is celebrated annually on 3 December It is a very significant pious tradition that a large number of pilgrims about 1500 irrespective of faith and caste from Belgaum and surrounding areas, traverse the arduous journey on foot for 5 days with sacrifice, and devout faith. Goans have received the faith on a platter and are taking things for granted more with ritualistic thanks giving praise and traditions Various Parishes go on pilgrimages in buses, offering the sacrifice of the mass with their Parish priest, on days and time allotted. This the only feast of the saint in Goa that people of all faith come in deep reverence to thank for the favours received

It is related to the universal theme of the year: Merciful like the father The picture of Mary Magdalene and Jesus writing in the sand is depicted too.
