Peter,In all fairness, Roland Travas was not in Africa in the 1970s. He is
justified in only commenting/summarizing about his experiences on the isles.

Nyerere was always bitter that the BBC announced the Idi Amin coup before the
Ugandan media reported it. Both Nyerere and Obote were at a CHOGM meeting in
Singapore when the BBC informed the world that Idi Amin had come to power.
Nyerere claimed that Obote called home inquiring about the coup and the State
House had no idea about it.
