The recent promises by Nitin Gadkari has completely ignored BJP's own
constituency, Cuncolim. The State run BJP government is well aware of the
sever traffic congestion on NH17 in Cuncolim and the number of lives that
are lost on that road every year, as a result. The only solution is the
implementation of the proposed bypass as shown in the regional plan. This
bypass road will not only divert domestic vehicular traffic, it will also
divert Bauxite mining truck that ply in the hundreds everyday from Bali to
Vasco. Another project that is urgently needed is the flyover bridge over
the railway track at Guirdolim-Chandor. The local BJP MLA and his
predecessors have been making promises but till date, commuters from the
village and those traveling between Sanguem and Margao have to wait in a
queue to cross the track everyday.

The question that Laxmikant Parsekar needs to answer is why is his
government dragging their feet when it comes to constituencies in Salcete,
particularly the ones which had put their faith in the BJP party? The
Cuncolim BJP MLA and the villages of Cuncolim, Chandor, Guirdolim and
Macazana have lost out to Parsekar's police of appeasement of Independent
MLA's and MLAs from alliance parties.

United Goans Foundation, on the behalf of Cuncolim Constituency demand that
the Cuncolim bypass be taken up on priorty along with the Canacona and
Margao bypass. UGF also demands that the BJP Govt fulfill their promise of
constructing a flyover across the railway track at Chandor at the earliest.
