In a recent study, a significant percentage of American children suffer from
deafness. This is labeled to be noise-induced hearing loss. This mainly stems
from hearing loud music on their personal music boom-box and / or I-pod. First
sign of hearing loss is ringing in the ear, when the kid removes the music
ear-buds from their ears. According to the report, similar studies have been
done and hearing loss confirmed in animals.

Loud noise causes nerve deafness by killing the nerve endings in the inner ear.
Greater number of nerve endings are destroyed as exposure to loud noise
increases. And with reduced nerve endings there is a decrease in hearing. Dead
nerve endings cannot heal or be repaired and the damage is permanent.

Noise related hearing loss is something Goan parents and grandparents have bee
preaching to their kids for generations. Now we have the science to back up
the mauxi kani. Smart mauxi!
