In this pic you will see our - Kitchen (Cuzin or Kujin)), Nanni (bathroom),
Zodollem (Window), Zollva kan (firewood storage compartment), Kitchen platform
(new), Carbo or Garafao, Gurgureth (for cool drinking water), buyao (storing
pickled raw mangoes, amballe, anvalle, toran, miskutt, para or paro, mango
jam), Donn or ail for storing tanddud (rice), adolli or addavo, Chimnne divo
(minus chimney), manual mincing machine (imported) which we used to mince more
of conge (snails...) than other meat.
Lot of memories of Gurgureth, it took one full copper pot of water to fill
which we fetched from the public well. It was on our dining table but we dine
on the floor sitting on bankin into the kitchen itself. We filled it up every
second day. The same must be at least 50 or more years now.
The Chimney divo (Lamp) was my night time study companion until around 1976
when we got electricity in our village for the first time. We still used it
when electricity failed.. We had large Tin 16kg storage tin for kerosene
(pethrol) and we even had a pump for siphoning kerosene into a litre bottle.
We also had imported Petromax which we used occasionally but our neighbours
used it more than us during their feasts or occasions.
You see more of liquor bottles (Karbe) because my day Dad used to buy 'fenni'
in a big pot called bhatti or Kollso which is equal to 18 litres or bottles. My
dad also had imported Alcohol meter called 'grao' and he would not accept or
buy any bhatti that showed alcohol contents less then 18 on the meter/scale.

My Dad was a travotti hence we hand many imported things including Ventoz for
cupping therapy, rubber flat water bottle for shake, Clinical thermometer,
Sydney tel (oil), Col water, Eucalyptus, Chinese balm etc etc
