The debate of whether the coconut tree is a tree is a smokescreen and diversion
from the real sinister and destructive policies of the building mafia in Goa.
No one generally cares whether something is classified as a tree or plant
except professionals in the field. This interest in the coconut tree
classification is for the benefit of the building mafia in Goa, who ILLEGALLY
build mega-projects on mangroves, agricultural land, and forest land. All these
mega-projects benefit non-Goans at the expense of Goans. Who are these
non-Goans? Rich Delhi and Bombay types who come to Goa to relieve themselves -
Goa is their private toilet since Delhi and Bombay are unbearable cities to
live in. Cutting coconut trees for these ILLEGAL mega-projects is
toilet-cleaning for these non-Goans with some Goans complicit in this corrupt
endeavor. The opposition to the corruption-filled destruction of Goa today has
nothing to do with yearning for the Goa of the "good old days".
