Konkani Poetry Workshop Atop Pilar Hillock Fr. Freddy J Da Costa Memorial Trust in collaboration with Konkani Bhasha Mandal and Vavradeancho Ixtt held a Konkani poetry workshop at Pilar Meditation Garden on January 17, 2016. Twenty one poets participated in this workshop. Wellknown Konkani poet Guadalupe Dias was the resource person. The important aspects to be considered while creating poetry and other relevant features of poetry writing were highlighted during the sessions. All the participant wrote and presented their poetry in the concluding session.
President of Fr. Freddy J Da Costa Memorial Trust (FFJDCMT) Fr. Eusebio Gomes sfx, who welcomed the participants and resource person and participants, along with Konkani Bhasha Mandal president Chetan Acharaya and Br. Eusebio Miranda inaugurated the workshop by lighting the traditional lamp. Rich tributes were paid to noted Konkani writer late Dr. Madhavi Sardessai by garlanding her portrait. Chetan Acharaya lauded the contribution of Dr. Madhavi Sardesai in his eulogy, and then introduced the resource person. Acharaya further said that the intention of organizing this workshop is not only to enhance poetry writing skills, but it is also an effort to get all Konkani writers to work together to strengthen the Konkani language. Vice president of Konknni Bhasha Mandal and Goa Konkani Academi, Jose Lourenço appealed to the participants to leave aside the script conflict and work together to take Konkani literature to a higher level. The participants were awarded a certificate each. Members of the trust Walter Menezes gave the proposed the vote of thanks while Willy Goes compered the proceedings.
