Dear friends,

As you may have read in today's HT newspaper, the ruling Shiv Sena and the
Chairman of the Standing Committee in BMC has announced that they would accept
suggestions from citizens on where should the BMC spend it's Budget.

Thanks to the efforts of Hindustan Times who have constantly strived to make
the BMC involve citizens in the Budget-making process, we get now 5 days (i.e.
till Wednesday, 10th Feb. 2016 evening) to send in our suggestions by e-mail on
Budget allocations.

This way we have more representation in the Budgetary process and thus better
transparency and accountability.

This is a new concept in BMC and we need to make the most of it to prevent BMC
reverting back to it's old ways of
non-transparent Budgeting and which, as you all know, if fraught with dark
holes.

Kindly spread this message to all concerned citizens, activists and Budget
specialists so that we get better utilisation of our hard-earned Tax money and
thus a better city to live in.

The E-mail IDs are :-- [email protected] and
[email protected]

You may C.C. your email to the HT's Senior Reporter - Mr Kunal Purohit on this

P.S. : Citizens residing in jurisdiction of other Municipalities (such as
Mira-Bhayander, Vasai Virar, Thane etc) can also demand that their suggestions
be noted by their respective Standing Committees before allocating the Budget
funds.

Regards.
