World Under 8 Girls Champion Ivana Furtado beat Russian Arina Utkina to
score her second consecutive victory and share the lead with three
others at the end of the second round of the World Schools Chess
Championships being played in Halkidiki, Greece.

Joining Ivana in the lead is Menzi Nezihe Ezgi (Turkey), Mariya Vasova
(Bulgaria) and Sweety Patel (India). Sweety Patel (ELO 1993) who is the top
seed now takes on the Turkish girl whereas Ivana faces Bulgarian Mariya in
the thrid round which will be played tomorrow.

In an important result from this category, National Under 7 Champion C.H.
Meghna (ELO 1720) was held to a draw Ho En Ying Michelle from Singapore.
This should help Ivana's chances considerably as the second seeded Meghna
was one of the favourites for this event.

In the Boys Under 9 Section, top seeded M. Satvik (ELO 1914) of Karnataka
had no problems disposing off Karras Konstantinos of Greece in the second
round. Here the second seeded Russian Mark Emdin (ELO 1853) lost so the
Indian camp once again has a great reason to cheer!
