Good interesting research by Mr. MD <mmdmello@   .com>. until the last 3 lines.
Now I am so confused with the last 3 lines of Mr. MD <mmdmello@   .com>
according to Mr.MMdemello.
"Technically Sonda/Sounda or Sode Rajas or Sondekars too are the descendants of
the Kadambas of Banavasi similar to
the Kadambas of Goa and Hangal and Chandavara.

I don't know on what base Mr. MD <mmdmello@  .com>  can come to this
conclusion.the correct historical conclusion is like Shivaji is of Maratha
origin, the Sondekar/Wodeyar are rightfully Kannada origin dynasty and they
took over the territories ruled by Kadambas but they are not Kadambas.

the only published authority on Kadamba Dynasty is Kadamba Kulla, a History of
Ancient and Media val Karnataka by George .M.Moraes, with a preface by Rev.H
Heras, Director of Indian Historical Institute, St. Xavier's College,
Bombay/Munbai. Published in 1931 by B.X.Furtado and Sons, Bombay has no place
for Sondekar/Wodeyar in their writings even when this  below mentioned research
was available for the George M.Moraes team of researchers. where as the
Velliapura inscriptions stones were on the private property owned and occupied
by the Velliapura family so were not available for the George M.Moraes team of
researchers, this inscriptions stones were brought to light only when a dispute
a raised  between the Velliapura family and their Coterie after the 2007
passing away of 41st successor to the Kadamba dynasty.

George M Moraes and Rev.H Heras devoted their whole resources in this research
and in the sunset of their life they published this 'Kadamba kulla' for us does
not include or an addition or even a mention of the Sondekar/Wodeyar list of
succession.

now let me put this before the people of Goa to decide, - why Sondekars/Wodeyar
were not included in the descendant line of the Kadambas in 'KADAMBA KULLA'?.
if BANAVASI KADAMBA ROOTS OF SONDEKARS.- why Sondekar/Wodeyar didnt call
themselves as Kadambas?
the correct historical conclusion is  like Shivaji is of Maratha origin, the
Sondekar/Wodeyar are rightfully Kannada origin dynasty and they took over the
territories ruled by Kadambas but they are not Kadambas.

BANAVASI KADAMBA ROOTS OF SONDEKARS

A record from Ankola connected to Kadambas of Chandavara and Haive-500:
Chakravarti Sivachitta Vira Kavadevarasa I (1231-1288) ruling from
Chandavara (near Karwar, Karnataka). Chandavara Kadambas also patronized
Jainism and they called themselves lords of Gokarna and worshipped lord
Mahabala of Gokarna in addition to lord Madhukeshwara of Banavasi. Their
kings bore a number of epithets, like Banavasi-Puravaradishvara (Lords of
Banavasi), Kadamba-chakravarti (Emperor), Mayuravarmma-kulabhushana (pride
ob the clan of Kadamba Mayuravarma), Kadambara-abharana (ornament of the
Kadambas), Jayanti- Madhukesvaradeva labudha-varaprasada (born with the
boon of Lord Madhukesvara of Banavasi), etc. that clearly indicates their
Banavasi ancestry.

Much later, during the reign of Vijayanagara king Krishnadeva Raya
(1509-1529), a local chieftain of Banavasi Kadamba family was looking after
the upland Kanara (North Kanara or Haive). He was Jaina by religion and
their last chieftain, believed to be Krishna Odeya had no issue, who died
in 1555. Therefore, his sister's son (aLiya-nephew) Arsappa Nayaka was
appointed ruler of Sonda (10 miles from Sirsi, North Kanara, Karnataka) in
1555 and he ruled until 1578. It is said, the genealogy of Sonda rulers,
was recorded by Francis Buchanan, the English traveller, who secured it
from the family priest of Sonda rulers from their native village in North
Kanara district.

During the rule of Madhava Linga Nayaka, they changed their faith to
Lingayat sect of Shaivism. Later, King Sadashiva Nayaka (1674-1697) became
autonomous when Mughals conquered Bijapur territories and took the title
Raja and named himself Sadashiva Linga Raja. In 1685 he became subordinate
to Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb who granted him territories from Canacona
(incl. forts Sadashivgad (piro) and Shiveshvar) in Goa to Ankola in North
Kanara of Karnataka. On the initiative and negotiation of the Portuguese,
Aurangzeb in 1706 also agreed to give Ponda mahal (known to Portuguese as
Antruz Mahal) to the Sonda king Basava Linga Raja (1697-1745) for an annual
tribute of Rs. 80,000/-.

Haider's army attacked Sonda kingdom (1763/4) and Immadi (second) Sadashiva
Ling Raja (1745 to 1763) fled from Sadashivgad and took shelter with the
Portuguese in Bandoda (Goa) and his descendants continue to reside at their
ancient Shivthirth palace in Nagueshi-Bandoda in Ponda, Goa. In return for
the Portuguese generosity, the Soundekars (Sondekars) offered them four
territories they held, namely Ponda, Zambaulim (that includes Sanguem,
Quepem Talukas) and Canacona (presently all of them are sub districts in
central and southern Goa). These later formed part of new conquest (novas
conquistas) of the Portuguese. Technically Sonda/Sounda or Sode Rajas or
Sondekars too are the descendants of the Kadambas of Banavasi similar to
the Kadambas of Goa and Hangal and Chandavara.

An extract of Goa History.... Ethnic Goan royal families namely Sondekar and
Velliapura.
In 1763, Hyder Ali, father of Tipu Sultan, Mysore, attackedSond Kingdom, North
Kanara, the Sondekar Royal family was fortunate tosurvive, went into hiding and
made their new home in Nageshi, Ponda Goa underthe Portuguese Reign. Today, His
Royal Highness Madhulingnagesh RajendraWodeyar and his family continue to
livethere in their residence, ShivtirthPalace, Near Nageshi Temple, Ponda Goa.
His Father, His Royal Highness Raja Savai Veer SadashivRajendra Basavling
Wodeyar. 72 passed away in March 19/2006 at age 72. In thepresence of his
mother Ms.Umaraje Vadeyar, his elder brother PrasanakumarSadashiv Rajendra
Wodeyar was coronated on March 19th /2006. After the death ofhis elder brother
Prasanakumar SadashivRajendra Wodeyar , Madhulingnagesh Rajendra Wodeyar, was
coroneted on Nov.24th2009.
Descendants of Kannada heritage known as Saundecars/Sondekars are lingayats,
Lingayatism or Lingayat is a religion thatwas founded in the 12th century by
Guru Basaveshwara who was a "Brahmin by birth". Contemporary Lingayatism is a
rich blend of reform-based theology. It is a religion like
Buddhism,Christianity, Islam, Sikhism etc by virtue of having its own
metaphysicaltheories. And having gone through centuries of Portuguese remold
they too were/are considered Ethnic Goans.
Now lets go to October 16th, 1345, Nawab Jamaluddin mounted  two pronged attack
simultaneously on Gopapura(Gove-Goa Velha) and Chandrapura(Chandor) in which
the newly crowned King His Royal Highness Suriyadeva wasslain, prominent writer
Moraes in his'Kadamba Kula' says the Queen who was away, arrived few days later
she came toknow of the treachery and the death of her husband. The distraught
queen brokeher bangles on the stone in front of the Santiago Chapel on the
Chandor CottaKadamba gate and dusting her heels (three times) because she did
not even want to carry the dust of the wretched city of Chandor on her feet,
uttered her famous curse and was secretly escorted to Jayakeshi I Royal
compound at Villiapura which later came under the Portuguese as (modern Velim)
and lived there in secrecy guarded by her loyal black smith subjects. In 1347
after the fall of Hangal Kingdom she was joined by her father His Royal
Highness King Purandarai Deva and nephew Jayeshi son of crown prince
Shankaradeva whom she adopted as her son and heir, The descendants continue to
live in Velliapura in their royal compound. In Jan of 2007, after the passing
away of his father who was the 41st successor, his eldest son His Royal Highness
SanjayaDeva was pronounced as the 42nd successor.
They too descendants of Kannada heritage known as Kadambas. Mayurasharma in 345
CE who felt humiliated. In high rage, the Brahmana discontinued his studies,
left Kanchi, swearing vengeance, he founded this dynasty which at later times
showed the potential of developing into imperial proportions an indication to
which is provided by the titles and epithets assumed by its rulers. Converted
to Nazarene sect and later to roman Catholicism while in Goa having gone
through centuries of Portuguese remold they too were/are?considered Ethnic.
