Bigotry towards Goans ... by other Goans

There is a tendency sometimes for elders, teachers, professors, those
well-settled and in seniority position to treat their students, newcomers and
underlings in less than a professional and kind manner;  unless of course the
juniors are connected.
The next generation and the newcomers are the ones that will outlive the
seniors and will sing their praises or bemoan their lack of professionalism.
In other words if a professor or an old-timer is interested in his / her
legacy, it is their students or newbies that are likely to lay the groundwork
and honor their legacy.  In the case of medicine, it is likely the junior
doctor who,  in a few years, will likely care for the teachers (in their
retirement) and their children.
I recollect sometime back, one of my Indian teachers (who gave me a difficult
time in my residency) write to me a decade later to ask if I would sponsor (and
pay for) their trip to USA.
Hence very likely the 'no-body' of today will be the 'some-body' of tomorrow;
and what goes around tends to come around.
So kindness, a smile and a helping hand does not go wasted.  For a minimum
helping somebody always leaves a good feeling.
