Marshall, I guess there is an age problem here. There are now two or three generations who have grown up without experiencing colonialism. There are also two or more generations of Goans born abroad who consider themselves natives of the country that they were born in. These kids assimilate the best of both cultures. While parents will always try and instill into their children the values they hold dear, the new generation understands that it has to weed out obsolete values. I am sure you have now rejected some of the customs that were popular in your youth. The public education system in Canada lets kids decide for themselves which customs and even which laws are obsolete. The focus is always on change - for the better. Mervyn
