Not in this Life!
Never did I imagine in this life I would have anything good to say about Cuba. As someone who belongs to a generation of freedom-loving men and who personally worships at the alter of freedom, I have to pinch myself as I write these words. No, thank you, but Castro and his ilk is not for me. But, to tell the truth, there is a bit of exaggeration in what I write as even Cuba has something good to offer and is of interest maybe to everyone as it is universal. Is there anyone on this planet who dislikes their music and their soulful way of dancing? It is reminiscent of the roots of Afro-American music. Do we human beings have to suffer to produce great music and dance? Goans today are suffering. Unlike in the past this generation of Goans and of course future generations will not be able to purchase a house for themselves and their families. I'm sure a lot of Goans are muttering and asking, forget a house - is it possible to purchase even an apartment which is affordable for the average man or woman in Goa today? Sadly, the answer is no! With Communidade lands becoming a hot issue in Goa today, strangely enough, the Cuban government might be a source of inspiration for solving this vexing issue. In Cuba it is possible to buy a house from the government. The house, however, cannot be sold and if the people who use it have no need or don't want it any longer then it has to be sold back to the government. No one is allowed to profit from the largesse of the government. The BJP government has given a good health insurance cover for all Goans. As we know, health is always a first priority and the BJP government deserves credit for it. For Goa, a state with a high standard of living this is an achievement which a lot of other states and people all over India can justifiably feel a sense of envy. A good start, indeed. The BJP government needs to look at the next priority item on the list which is housing. If the Cuban government can do it so can the BJP. The small island of Çuba has probably the finest health care system in the world. Will Goa be second? Goans are suffering as a decent roof above our heads is necessary and is development for the Goan people. Will the BJP government add housing to top the health insurance scheme for Goans in need? Communidade land is available in abundance and can be used for the benefit of needy Goans who cannot even dream of having a roof above their heads. And, yes, for Goans only!
