Dear Irmao Gilbert,
There is compelling evidence that Abraham Lincoln who
led the US into a civil war to free slaves, was infact
a devout racist given to regularly using racial slurs
and insisting that the black man would never be equal
to the white.
The reason I bring this up is because people and
institutions are products of their time. I for one,
don't blame the Church per se for whatever ills it has
managed to perpetuate. The Church is a body of the
people that form it, and reflect whatever prejudices
are contained therein. It is only when the moral
zeitgeist of a society moves forward that the Church
follows suit.
