Hi,Not only Kunbis, but basically all Goans have some trait or the other of
Hinduism, as our origins were originally Hindus. Hence we cannot say bye, bye
for those traits just at the snap of finger. It may have been 5 centuries or so
for the Christianity to enter Goa, but before that all were Hindus, hence it
won\'t be so easy for the Goans to forget the Habits as the saying goes, Habits
die hard. So its not only not eating meat, but Caste ( a topic which never dies
on Goanet), Nodding of head ( maybe due to Bharat Natyam dancing habits of
old), women folk wearing saris, eating in hand, also people at their work, like
traditional farming, which is still carried on, and who knows what else is
there. Well, I can say, that Dr Carmo has brought a interesting topic for
discussion, its not only Kunbis and Meat, but may be there are hundreds more
things which can be added to this subject. Hope we can learn what we still have
not given up after becoming Christians.CheersJerry Fernandes
