Jim, Deploying the same old money-fuelled, corruption-driven electoral system and expecting a different outcome is also "idiotic", sir! There are very sound reasons why nobody BUT the "same old crooks" could get elected given the system we have in place. Its roots are solidly colonial and made to serve the interests of seventeenth century British mercantile capitalism in large measure. Don't blame the voter for that. Where we can blame the citizen is for buying into the illusion that marking one 'x' mark (or pressing one button) once every five years, with no controls or checks-and-balances whatsoever in between, amounts to 'democracy'.
