Dear all: I would like to respond to all the messages (via Goanet, Facebook, SMS and WhatsApp), but kindly accept this thank you to everyone who sent in their wishes after the recent passing of our Dad.
He lived a full life. With the exception of the last two-and-half years, he was on the planet for 88 ultra-active years, which is more than one could wish for. Recently (and intensely in the last few months), he was battling MSA, or multiple systems atrophy. It hadn't been diagnosed earlier and we were long puzzled over the unexplained reasons for his repeated falls (fortunately without any serious injuries) and also why his blood pressure suddenly plunged when he stood up, but was fine when he was in a lying-down position. It is a really debilitating illness. More so because the mind stays active and alert while you can see the body crumbling before your very eyes. Till maybe 2-3 months ago he read the three English newspapers daily with much enthusiasm. Every night, at 7:45 sharp, he would get the TV switched on, and stay tuned in to the incessant politically-focussed coverage of NDTV. Even though he never complained and stayed ever-optimistic, towards the end I personally sometimes wished that he would get the rest he so deserved. He leaves behind many memories. We are grateful. Thank you on behalf of the whole family.
