<29 military aircraft crashed in three years Giving details, Antony said [in Parliament that] the IAF had lost eight MiG-21s, six Jaguars, four MiG-27s, four Mirages, three MiG-29s, and one Bison - an upgraded version of the MiG-21 during 2004-05 and 2006-07. The Indian Navy lost three Sea Harriers during this period. > http://www.newkerala.com/news.php?action=fullnews&id=27446 What this report omits is mention of the choppers (both IAF and Navy) that were also lost during this period. This would have provided a more complete picture of the lacunae in the military's maintenance and operation capabilities. Meanwhile we are still awaiting an indepth review on goanet of the crashes experienced in the Goa area in recent times, including of transport/recce aircraft, as well as Sea Harriers lost in other parts of India, for perspective purposes. We need a handle on the effectiveness or otherwise of the Dabolim base with which Goa is saddled for better or worse.
