Let me add my 'two pice'.I seem to remember that there actually was a portlymiddle aged gentleman named Mr.Polson who was Chairman & Managing Directorof the Company that made Polson's butter.In the protected environment that industries functionedin those days, he did not quite expect that a raider would buy up his sharesand oust him. That is what happened. A group cornered shares of Polson and atthe AGM that followed Mr.Polson was ousted from the Company that carried hisname. In fact, I seem to remember that Mr.Polson was bodily picked up and dumpedoutside the hall where the meeting was held.Of course, the raider was not interested in the butterbusiness. The raider had other plans and making butter was not among them. The Companywas shut down soon thereafter.It took a long time to get used to the rather flattaste of Amul butter. Polson's had a distinctive salty taste, all its own. Forquite awhile 'maska pao' tasted quite flat. Sadly, POLSON was not an all India product. It had a very small market - in and around Bbay. Apart from size, it was a victim of financial mismanagment and I recall it had got entangled with the Devkaran Nanjee Bank financial fiasco. The bank has been reconstituted as DENA Bank today.
