Complaint filed today before Chief Secretary, DGP and both the District Magistrates over the illegal and high-handed motor rally being organised by the BJP tomorrow from Dabolim to Panaji.
It has been pointed out that the rally with an estimated 9000 two wheelers would create a massive traffic chaos, obstruction besides being a public nuisance. The rally is being very high-handedly organized without obtaining the requisite permissions from the concerned authorities. Nobody is above the law and just because the BJP is in power it gives them no authority to flout the law of the land with impunity. The Government of a State has to lead by example and it cannot be allowed to make a mockery of the Fundamental Rights of its citizens. Due to the proposed rally ordinary citizens would be affected as traffic would be blocked which could also lead to a law and order situation. The law enforcement authorities in the past have rightly stopped rallies and functions which were being organized without the requisite permissions. The authorities must ensure that the law is not allowed to be violated by turning a blind eye to this illegal rally, just because it is being organized by the ruling BJP.
