If you thought Colombia was bad, then Mexico is positively evil. Top officials of the church are in cahoots with drug kingpins but priests who advocate for the poor are routinely killed.
The Church takes large sums of money from drug lords (not a phenom confined to Mexico alone, think Italy) and claims dirty money is "cleaned" when given to them.
