<http://www.ndtv.com/> QUOTE FROM NDTV Goa Ex-Cop Elvis Gomes Joins Aam Aadmi Party Goa <http://www.ndtv.com/goa-news> | Press Trust of India <http://www.ndtv.com/topic/press-trust-of-india> | Updated: October 05, 2016 19:46 IST *Panaji: * Goa's former Inspector General of Prisons Elvis Gomes today joined Aam Aadmi Party claiming that the state government was not only corrupt but had been systematically unfair to bureaucrats. "I have seen this administration very closely for 19 years, and a lot of injustice has been done to bureaucrats. We have no idea as to whom they want to please and at what cost to the people," Mr Gomes said today. He was speaking in presence of AAP's senior leader Manish Sisodia. Mr Gomes, an IAS officer who opted for voluntary retirement in July, faces serious charges of corruption and was booked by the Goa Police's Anti-Corruption Branch in connection with a land scam. He, however, has denied all allegations. "It is clear to everyone that the cases filed against me are completely bogus," Mr Gomes said. He said he had challenged the FIR against him before the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court. The former bureaucrat alleged massive corruption in the state administration and said, "The administration which exists in Goa is nowhere in India. The manipulations seen in Goa are not there anywhere in the country." "There is no end to corruption here. It is not the chief minister or any other minister but the situation is such that the lowest functionary in the government can also influence the decision making process of the government," he said. >From Stephen Dias desk; Elvis Gomes’s experience as a Director General of Prisons is an essential attribute that makes him capable of being able to root out corruption from the political firmament. Our people in Goa have seen too much of corruption, nepotism and cronyism and Elvis is the right person to clean up the mess that politicians create after they assume office. Elvis’ integrity and sincerity is unquestionable and Goans should welcome him into the political fold to nip corruption in the bud which is become a cancer and needs immediate cure. His experience as Director of Directorate of Municipal Administration stands him in good stead as an administrator to bolster his clean image as defender of clean political system. Someone saying him a cop is absurd and what would you say those who are in defence ministry? Are they not huge cops?
