Goa, India: will flash across international news medias as the BRICS summit is held in this seaside resorts this weekend. Likely TV footage of the "Welcome Ceremony" and various other events will be a bonanza for Goa's tourism; worth millions of dollars of cost-free advertisements. I hope schools in Goa have made their students write reports on the various BRICS countries and their leaders. Imagine 25 years from now, a high ranking Goan in the foreign service saying "My first exposure to international affairs was following the BRICS summit in Goa in 2016."
Some Goans will phoo-phoo this idea of BRICS summit as possibly being a door-opener for Goan boys and girls. Yet twenty five years from now, the same will sing praises of a Goan who benefited from that opportunity. I am sure there is a great konkani saying for that attitude. Regards, GL
