BRICS SUMMIT- SUBSTANDARD FOOD SUPPLY FOR GOA POLICEMEN?....By Stephen Dias, Dona Paula It is shocking to learn from the newspapers that the Goa Police personnel posted for the BRICS SUMMIT held on 15th and 16th October, 2016 in South Goa were subject to such humiliating experience wherein even basic foodstuffs were provided to them allegedly substandard quality. The policemen who were protecting and cordoning off the area were supposed to be provided hygienically prepared food and not allegedly contaminated foodstuff which could have had a serious effect on their health. When such a high profile event of international repute is held, it is unacceptable that those who are posted for duty should be given treatment causing harm and serious damage to their system. This is not only a violation of human rights but inability of the officials responsible to provide basic necessities, thus endangering custodians of the law who are supposed to protect high value dignitaries. Recurrence of such dereliction of duty should never take place again. An impartial inquiry and the truth about this matter have to be thoroughly investigated. For such high level events everybody who participates in its organizations should be treated with utmost care, befitting the confidence and trust we repose on them to carry on their duties with dedication.
