It seems Roland is advocating "ghettoization". I pointed out GOA's efforts because it's the primary Goan organization. Unfortunately, Roland doesn't know the current status of the land owned by the GOA. It's better he checked with his sources. What half-truths? If he knows the truth spell it out. I don't know if Roland is member of the GOA. If he's then it would be wise to know the history of this parcel of land which GOA owns. I will not answer the question of a clubhouse but would rather have him get the answer. May I ask Roland if he raised the issue of having a clubhouse with Goan 55Plus? Can-Orient is NOT a Goan organization. The GOA were not looking at property the size of Can-Orient clubhouse as it was deemed not big enough to accommodate the crowd GOA draws for its events. For Roland's information, Can-Orient wanted to join the GOA and the issue was raised at a GOA meeting. Both association have joint members, particularly those Goans from Pakistan. A non-Goan can only become an "associate" member of GOA with no voting rights, unlike Can-Orient. This was one of the contentious issue on which the amalgamation of both organizations couldn't take place. As for "ghettoization", one must look at what has happened to Springdale in Brampton. Now mockingly it's called Singhdale, and very few "white" people want to buy houses there. I know of even Goans not wanting to go there. Go to Goreway and check that it's full of Hindus, as there a Hindu temple there. Same with Malton, which is called Little Punjab, because of big Punjabi population, as Punjabis want to stay close to their gurdwaras. At one time, some parts of Etobicoke resembled a Goan "ghetto", as many Goans who came as refugees from Uganda settled there. The new generation of Goans have gone to all corners of the GTA. I, for one, do not want a Little Goa, just like Little Italy, Little Portugal or Little Punjab or Little India.
