UK: Nov 19 Board Game-Snakes and Ladders GOA UK AGM 2016
Ever wondered why the Goan Association UK, the once great Flagship of the Goan
Community in the United Kingdom, is unable to progress with any substance you
only have to look at the Board Game Snakes and Ladders and the Current Board of
Directors. If there was an unnamed award “Pinocchio” would be appropriate for
this current collective of Directors.
The G.O.A. UK BOARD game now has more snakes than ladders. As holders of the
dice I would urge all Life, Ordinary and instant members to exercise your right
and attend the AGM of the company on Saturday 19 November at Archbishop Lan
Franc Mitcham CR4 3AS  even if this meeting is invalid to give the Directors
who are holding the Ladder a hand. Ignore hissing.
The only advantage the Directors are using that comes from the Rules of the
Goan Association is the facility for an office bearer to be in post for three
years to allow for continuity and experience to avoid sudden death as a whole
committee could be wiped out at elections. This facility has been used to get
the Family Raj into office over the last nine years.
The requirement of having 20 members present for a quorum comes from
Association rules not Company Law. Company law informs of a percentage of the
membership making up the quorum for decision making process and a valid meeting.
The requirement of notice for Annual General Meeting giving 14 or 21 days’
notice comes from both Association Rules and Company Law for the meeting to be
valid. Hence if members of the G.O.A. UK received Notice for the meeting on
Saturday 19 November less than the days mentioned then this meeting is invalid
in Law.
One day soon, wisdom will shine through ignorance and the educated “
sorpotelised” Goan at all levels can really appreciate the  Portuguese peasant
food that is our King dish and do away with peasant thinking linked to money.
