Price Of Entertainment

This may sound an esoteric topic.  Yet we are entering the entertainment season
where ever one may live.  We are being entertained and face the cost of
entertainment or (better still)  we are organizing directly or indirectly an
event.
Yet for those in the entertainment business, it can be a challenge how to cost
customers both the entertainers and entertainees.  For consumers it often
factors whether an event is worth the "exorbitant" cost.   IMO this
"cost-of-entertainment" is now a science.
A good rule of thumb to the price of entertainment is the cost of a cinema
ticket  in your locale and the duration of the cinema. In the USA a cinema
ticket cost bout 8-10 dollars for about 2 hours of entertainment.  So that
works to be 4-5 dollars per hour of entertainment.
That is a good yardstick to determine the cost-effectiveness of a visit to a
museum, opera, tour of a palace, garden; or even a cost of a meal or drink at a
bar. Frankly as reading is entertainment, an entertaining book that takes 8
hours to read, the cost-effectiveness of the book is 30 dollars.  The same may
apply to a CD.
That cost of entertainment is double if:
1. The entertainment includes food.2. Entertainment includes alcoholic
drinks.3.  Entertainer is a national or international performer.4. The venue is
world-class.5. The city is a major metropolis (cost of living index).
Please convert the above cost to your local currency and to your own local
cost-of-entertainment-per- hour and a comparison of how much one should spend
(or charge) on entertainment; including a one week vacation.
Feedback welcome.
Regards, GL
