At least this post isn't full of personal jibes. 1) If you have a problem with the Indian education system per se, then that's fodder for another topic called "the merits and demerits of the Indian Education System". Unless you can adequately prove that Catholic schools in India have in the mean, been producing clerks while other schools are producing rocket scientists, you don't have a case. Evidence will bear that convent (I use the term interchangeably) schools in India have produced some of India's finest. They do well within the framework of India's education system or should I say despite of it. Furthermore, why blame the British for India's education, what have Indians been doing for the last 60 years, twiddling their thumbs? 2) You write, "about Islam, the very rigidity is its strength". Really? I wonder why you chose the word "rigid" which has a very negative connotation. Incidentally, the word Philistine, which you are so fond of using is no longer used in polite company. This is a quaint little word coined by Anglos and anglophiles (the very ones you detest), to describe Palestinians and hence as an extension by their own logic uncultured people. But getting back to rigidity and religion, I've never known rigidity to be described as a strength in anything other than a porn movie. The rigidity of Islam is exactly what is causing so many problems, firstly to themselves and secondly to the general political eco-balance of the world. I love the line, Islam is not bad, its interpretation is. I have news, all of religion is an interpretation. There is no "word of God". If your interpretations are causing trouble, get new interpreters. My intention is not to beat up on Islam, it is only to prove the falsity of believing that which is so clearly not true. And the way to do this is to constantly evaluate the validity of information in the light of clear evidence and be open to doubt, introspection and correction where necessary, something which religion does not allow for. Welcome to Goanet by the way. I'm enjoying your posts, especially the one about "centrifugal movement". Was there "incense" involved when you wrote that one? :-) selma ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get your own web address.
